Privacy policy
Effective September 13, 2026. This policy explains what DopplerIQ LLC, the publisher of Shopper’s Almanac (“we”), collects when you use theshoppersalmanac.com, how it is used, and the choices you have. The short version: we collect as little as we can, we set no advertising cookies of our own, and we do not sell personal information.
What we collect
Server logs. Like every website, our hosting provider records the IP address, browser type, pages requested and time of each request for security and to keep the site running. These logs are kept for a limited period and are not used to identify you.
Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are read and which links are followed. It sets first-party cookies in your browser to recognise a returning visit and count it once, and it records the page you viewed, the site that referred you, your approximate location from a truncated IP address, and your device and browser type. We have turned off Google Signals and advertising personalisation, so the data is not used to build advertising audiences or to follow you across other sites, and we do not receive your name or any identifier that tells us who you are. Google processes this data as our service provider under its own privacy policy. You can opt out for every site with Google’s browser add-on, or by blocking cookies for this site.
Outbound clicks. When you click through to a retailer, we record that a click happened, which store and product it was for, and the price shown. It is tied to the analytics visit described above, not to you.
Price watch emails. If you give us an email address to be told when a price drops, we store that address, the product and the price you asked about, and we use them only to send that alert. Every alert carries an unsubscribe link; unsubscribing deletes the address.
Email you send us. If you write to us, we keep the correspondence for as long as needed to answer you.
Browser storage. The site may use your browser’s local storage for small conveniences such as remembering that you have already seen an animation. Nothing in it identifies you and nothing is sent to us.
Affiliate links and third-party cookies
Many links to retailers on this site are affiliate links. When you click one, you leave our site and the retailer or the affiliate network that runs its program may set cookies or use similar technology in your browser to record that you arrived from our site, so that a purchase can be credited to us. We do not receive your name, address or payment details from these networks; we receive aggregate reports of clicks, orders and commissions. These third parties process data under their own privacy policies, and you can decline or clear their cookies in your browser settings or through their opt-out pages (for example, CJ Affiliate’s at cj.com/legal/privacy).
How we use information
To operate the site, to send the price alerts you ask for, to answer your messages, to measure which pages are read, to detect abuse, and to be paid commissions on referred sales. The price readings, price history and reader information collected for Shopper’s Almanac exist to publish Shopper’s Almanac and are used for no other product or service. We do not use them to build advertising profiles and we do not show behaviourally targeted ads.
Sharing
We share information only with the providers that run the site for us (hosting, email delivery, analytics), under contracts that limit their use of it; with affiliate networks and retailers as described above; and when the law requires it. We do not sell personal information and we have not sold it in the past twelve months.
Your choices and rights
You can use the site without giving us any information. You can unsubscribe from any alert email at any time. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to certain uses. To exercise any of these rights, email hello@theshoppersalmanac.com with “Privacy” in the subject line; we answer within 30 days and never discriminate against you for asking.
Cookies. The cookies on this site are the first-party analytics cookies described above, plus whatever the retailer or affiliate network sets after you click through to them. We set no advertising cookies of our own. You can block or clear cookies in your browser settings; the site works without them.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. We do not use your browsing for advertising and we do not sell personal information, so there is nothing for these signals to switch off; we honour them where they apply.
Children
The site is for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us an email address, write to us and we will delete it.
Security and retention
The site is served over HTTPS. Alert addresses are kept until you unsubscribe or until the alert has been sent and closed; logs and correspondence are kept for limited periods. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
International readers
The site is operated from the United States and information is processed there. If you visit from elsewhere, you are sending information to the United States.
Changes
When this policy changes, the effective date at the top changes with it, and material changes are noted on this page.
