About Shopper’s Almanac

An almanac tells you what usually happens — when the frost comes, when the tide turns — so you can plan instead of guess. Shopper’s Almanac does the same for prices. We read what products actually cost, every morning, across the stores that sell them, and over time those readings add up to something no “SALE” sticker can fake: a memory.

Retail prices move constantly, and every store wants you to believe that today is the day. Sometimes it is. Usually it isn’t. The only way to know the difference is history — what this exact product sold for last week, last month, last season — and a straight comparison of what it costs across stores right now. That is the whole product here. When we say a price is good, we show you the readings that prove it; when we don’t have enough history to judge, we say so.

What we do

We take price data from retailer product feeds and from public shopping listings, record it daily, and judge today’s price against its own past and against the other stores selling the same item — never against an invented “was” price. Every product gets one of three words: Buy now, Fair, or Wait, with the numbers behind the call.

Our guides and reviews are written by people with opinions. We say which one we would buy and which one we would skip, and we show the store-by-store price under each pick so you can check our work.

What we never do

We never reorder a price comparison because someone paid us. Rows sort by price. Sponsored placements exist, are always labelled, and never touch a ranking or a verdict. We do not sell your email address, and we do not build profiles of our readers. Read how we make money and our editorial policy.

Who we are

Shopper’s Almanac is an independent publication based in the United States. It is not owned by or affiliated with any retailer, and the price readings and history we collect exist for one purpose: publishing this site. Reach us at hello@theshoppersalmanac.com.
